Mario Borunda double-majored in Physics and Mathematics earning his B.S. from the University of Texas at El Paso in 2003. He received his Ph.D. in Physics from Texas A&M University in 2008. He spent three years as a postdoc and nine months as a research associate at Harvard University. In September 2012, he became a faculty member of the physics department at Oklahoma State University. Borunda has also been a visiting researcher at Harvard University.
