Smart features are becoming a standard fixture in electrical appliances — and electric toothbrushes are no different. Many of these gadgets can now give you real-time feedback on your brushing technique, provide a personalized oral hygiene routine, or even use artificial intelligence to help you get the best results.

The Oclean X Pro Digital S electric toothbrush goes even further. This model features a touchscreen and built-in gyroscope that meticulously tracks your brushing coverage. But can this toothbrush make a real difference to your oral hygiene routine?

It does appear so. The Oclean X Pro Digital S is jam-packed with smart features and high-tech solutions. This sleek-looking electric toothbrush is equipped with a patented Maglev 2.0 motor that can generate up to 84,000 movements per minute, and its battery can last up to 30 days on a single charge. It also comes with four brush heads, a handy wall mount and a travel case.

Although the Oclean X Pro Digital S is not cheap — it costs $159.99, or $129.99 without the case and spare brush heads — it has all the potential to earn a spot in our guide to the best electric toothbrushes.

The Oclean X Pro Digital S is available in four colors — silver, gold, blue and purple — and features a 2-in-1 wall mount holder and magnetic charger base, a USB cable, four brush heads and a handy travel case. Our testing unit came in a gold color and we were thoroughly impressed by its design.

The Oclean X Pro Digital S is probably the most stylish toothbrush that has graced our bathroom shelf. We liked its sleek build, elegant pearly finish and warm, distinctive color — a welcome change from the bulky, dull-looking models that dominate the market. The toothbrush was also comfortable to hold and easy to clean, mostly due to its smooth surface. However, there is no contoured grip on the Oclean X Pro Digital S, which may make it slippery when wet. This could be an issue if you tend to brush your teeth in the shower.

The Oclean X Pro Digital S features an on/off button and a small touchscreen at the front of the handle. Both controls were intuitive to use and responsive to the touch, even when pressed with wet hands. The interactive display also made it easy to pick desired settings without having to endlessly press the buttons to jump from one mode to another.

However, it still leaves a lot to be desired — the touchscreen is not particularly bright or detailed, and it always looks like it has been fogged up. This was not a problem when we used the toothbrush in the artificial lights of our bathroom, but when we tested it in direct sunlight, we could not see the screen properly. If your bathroom gets a lot of sunlight, you may find this poor visibility frustrating.

The Oclean X Pro Digital S comes with four brush heads — two Plaque Control and two Delicate Care — which are attached to the handle by pressing them downward onto the motor shaft. The assembly process was straightforward, and we had no problems swapping the brush heads around.

The Plaque Control brush head, featuring sharp W-shape Dupont Diamond Classic Bristles and a tongue scraper, is designed for a more intense clean. The Delicate Care brush head, on the other hand, comes with smaller and softer bristles and is more geared towards people with sensitive teeth. The replacement heads are reasonably priced, too — $19.99 for a 4-pack or $29.99 for an 8-pack.

The Oclean X Pro Digital S is charged using a micro-USB cable and a small magnetic charger that doubles as a stand. You can also mount the charger on the wall using a detachable magnetic plate, which allows you to store the toothbrush away from bathroom shelves — a convenient solution if you are short on space.

Oclean X Pro Digital S: Features

  • Three cleaning modes, including one with personalized settings
  • Built-in gyroscope tracks brushing coverage
  • Missed spots marked in the app
  • The app provides feedback on your brushing habits

The Oclean X Pro Digital S features three cleaning modes that differ in duration and intensity. The Sunrise Soothing mode, lasting two minutes and 30 seconds, provides a gentle brush designed for use in the morning. The three-minute Sunset Clearout delivers an intense clean optimized for effective plaque removal and is intended to be used before bedtime. The Exclusive mode, on the other hand, can be personalized according to your own needs and preferences. If it is not set up, the mode operates with standard settings for an untimed period until it is manually switched off.

The key feature of the Oclean X Pro Digital S is its six-axis gyroscope — a built-in device that tracks the movements of the toothbrush in real-time. After brushing, the touchscreen will display a brushing score from 0 to 100. Simply put, the higher the number, the better your brushing coverage. If you missed a spot, you will also see a small picture of the jaw with all under-brushed areas marked in red, and the toothbrush will offer to repeat the cycle so you can improve your score.

You can get more detailed brushing data on the Oclean app. This handy piece of software will display a 3D visualization of your jaw and provide personalized guidance on how to boost your score. It will also show your Brushing Activity Clover — a visual depiction of your daily toothbrushing frequency, duration and score. When you brush your teeth twice a day, achieving a cumulative brushing duration of four minutes and a cumulative score exceeding 180 points, you will have completed your brushing goal. Over time, the Oclean X Pro Digital S will give you rewards and progress badges for maintaining good brushing habits.

Interestingly, the Oclean app will also provide you with Health Reports that can be shared — with your dentist, for example — and even uploaded to your Apple Health profile.

Oclean X Pro Digital S: Performance

  • Up to 30 days of battery life
  • Great brushing efficiency without aggravating the gums
  • The app may not record brushing sessions properly
  • Brushing coverage may not always be accurate

Performance-wise, the Oclean X Pro Digital S is a hit-and-miss. Its brushing efficiency and battery life are hard to match, but when it comes to smart features, this toothbrush does not fully deliver.

The Oclean X Pro Digital S promises up to 30 days of battery life and a charging time of about two hours — and that is indeed true. It took us approximately an hour and 45 minutes to get a full battery, and after three weeks of continuous use, the toothbrush was still going strong. If you need to go camping or traveling, the Oclean X Pro Digital S will not die out halfway through your trip.

We were also impressed with its brushing efficiency. This electric toothbrush left our mouth immaculately clean, but at no point did it aggravate our gums or feel uncomfortably sharp on the teeth. Even when we used the Plaque Control brush head in the Sunset Clearout mode, the Oclean X Pro Digital S struck a great balance between sensitivity and efficiency. We were particularly amazed by the Delicate Care brush head — it is so gentle that you can barely feel it working, but it still delivers great results.

We also liked that the Oclean X Pro Digital S was relatively quiet. We measured how loud it was with a decibel-counting app, and found that it generated a maximum of 50 decibels, equivalent to the sound of a refrigerator running. The toothbrush also performed well in our waterproofness test. We submerged it underwater for three minutes, and it was still working well afterward.

The Oclean app paired with our toothbrush quickly and efficiently, and most of the time, we did not experience any issues with connectivity between the devices. However, there were several occasions when the app did not record our brushing sessions, and we could not figure out why. Moreover, we received a mobile phone notification that the Oclean app was draining our battery, which is somewhat unusual for a toothbrush app.

The Oclean X Pro Digital S did a relatively good job at pinpointing spots that we missed when brushing, but it was not always accurate. For example, there were a couple of times when it claimed that a section we spent a significant amount of time brushing was not cleaned for long enough. Moreover, the feedback received in the app was related purely to brushing coverage. The Oclean X Pro Digital S does not offer real-time pressure control, so we could not get any in-depth guidance on our brushing technique.

Oclean X Pro Digital S: User reviews

The Oclean X Pro Digital S scores 3.6 out of 5 stars on Amazon, with 39% of users awarding it a full five stars, and one in 10 buyers giving it the lowest rating. Positive reviews praised this toothbrush for its detailed brushing coverage, thorough cleaning, sleek design, and motivational features. Negative reviews often cited its high price, dysfunctional app and hard-to-find replacement brush heads.

As one user commented, “The toothbrush itself is fine, but if you are looking for a smart toothbrush to guide and record your brushing sessions, look elsewhere. The app does not provide real-time feedback, though the tiny image on the toothbrush itself shows if you missed a section. The app is absolutely worthless. It does not capture data for half of the sessions, and even when it does, the data may disappear the next time you open the app.”

Should you buy the Oclean X Pro Digital S?

✅ If you are looking for an electric toothbrush that is suitable for sensitive teeth, you can’t go wrong with the Oclean X Pro Digital S. This thoughtfully designed device is equipped with a powerful Maglev motor that delivers an efficient yet gentle clean, and comes with brush heads that are easy on the gums. The Oclean X Pro Digital S is a real looker, too. This toothbrush will impress you with its sleek, stylish design and a choice of tasteful color options.

❌ However, if you want a toothbrush that will provide you with detailed feedback on your brushing technique, you may want to give the Oclean X Pro Digital a miss. It does not feature real-time pressure control, and its brushing coverage features are not always up to scratch. This toothbrush is also relatively expensive.

If Oclean X Pro Digital S is not for you

The Oral-B iO Series 10 is a great alternative to the Oclean X Pro Digital S — it offers excellent brushing performance, wireless charging and a wealth of smart features, including AI-powered feedback on your brushing technique. However, this toothbrush comes at a steep price of $399.99.

If you are looking for something more budget-friendly, consider the Laifen Wave. It features a wide range of personalization features and three different brush heads, making it easy to adjust the brushing intensity — and the basic white option costs only $69.99.

Alternatively, if you want to stick to the Oclean brand, give the Oclean X Pro Elite a try. This app-aided toothbrush is easy on the teeth and gums and offers a battery life of up to 30 days.

Oclean X Pro Digital S: How we tested

We spent over three weeks testing the Oclean X Pro Digital S electric toothbrush, looking at its design, brushing efficiency, battery life, smart features, ease of use and value for money. We ran the toothbrush on all of its modes and with both the Delicate Care and Plaque Control brush heads.

We also measured how loud it was with a decibel-counting app, and tested its water resistance by submerging it underwater for three minutes — the duration of one Sunset Clearout brushing cycle.
